Every massage starts with initial palpations over the whole body. This is done to examine each area of the body. Once the initial examination has been completed strokes such as effleurage, compressions, cross fibre friction and percussion are used to treat each area.

Equine sports massage can have many benefits including:

  • Loosen tight muscles, stretching the connective tissue.
  • Relief from muscle cramps and spasms.
  • Decreases muscle fatigue.
  • Loosen joints and improves range of motion.
  • Increases muscle strength.
  • Calms the nervous system.
  • Speeds up healing from injury or illness.
  • Stimulates circulation.
  • And there are many more benefits.

Some signs a horse my show where a massage might help include:

  • A reluctancy when jumping.
  • Struggling tracking up in any gate.
  • Stiffness in neck, reluctance to flex the poll.
  • Difficulty with lateral work.
  • Not relaxing into a contact.
  • If the horse is (cold backed)
  • Displaying vices when ridden.

A session typically lasts around 1hr and is tailored to your horse and their needs.
All notes from each treatment can be sent to owner after the session on request.
Maintenance and exercise plans will be set in place to help each individual equine.
