Arthur is currently 18 and is looking for a loving, long-term home as a non-ridden companion.
He stands at approximately 14.2hh, but is a lovely, wide-built boy as he is part draft (Comtois). He really is the sweetest horse and has such a laid-back, easy-going nature. He gets on brilliantly with both youngsters and older horses and has lived happily in a mixed herd of mares, foals, geldings, horses and mules.
For the past 10 years, Arthur has lived on a track system where he was handled daily. He has been out for walks and has taken part in local village fairs and shows. He would be fantastic for someone looking for a companion with a job to do — he would especially enjoy agility, low-level in-hand showing and clicker training, which he responds to brilliantly.
Arthur is good with:
* Trailer loading
* Hoof trimming
* Teeth
* Walking out in hand
* Grooming
* Rugging
* Catching
* Clicker training
* Children
* Living in a mixed herd
Arthur has always been barefoot, and I would like this to continue. He has no health issues other than being pigeon-toed, which is managed through his regular trimming routine.
He is a very good doer and lives out 24/7, happily maintained on grass, hay or haylage. He is currently bucket fed once a day, although this isn’t necessary for him — his companion requires a daily feed, so Arthur simply has one too. In winter, he is lightly rugged.
Arthur is also fantastic with children. I have two autistic children who visit him approximately once a month simply to spend time with him and groom him, and he is wonderfully patient and kind with them.
I’m looking for a genuinely loving, experienced and committed home where Arthur can stay long term and be treated as part of the family. He doesn’t need to be ridden — he would make an amazing companion and would thrive having someone to spend time with and give him little jobs to enjoy.
