Searching for a companion home for my lovely pony Jack.
I am looking for the perfect forever, companion home for my very special boy, Jack.
Jack is an 18yr old, 13hh Welsh section C gelding who absolutely does not act his age. Jack is an absolute angel to have on the yard, with manners to die for, and is genuinely one of the easiest and loveliest ponies you could wish to have around.
Jack was retired from ridden work two years ago due to arthritic hocks. We tried steroid injections and rehabilitation, but unfortunately he never came sound. Since then, he has been happily retired and living his best life.
Sadly, my circumstances have now changed. I am currently at university and no longer have a job, and with a teenage pregnancy, I am having to make the heartbreaking decision to find Jack a new home.
Jack will be rehomed as a companion only. I am not looking to make any money from him whatsoever. The only thing that matters to me is finding him the right home.
I do want to be completely honest about his needs:
🐴 Jack must have company at all times and cannot live alone.
🐴 He has had EMS in the past, so his diet, weight and grazing will need to be carefully managed.
🐴 He is very much a fair-weather Welsh pony and will need stabling during the winter. I do believe he could happily live out with a good field shelter and appropriate management.
🐴 He is retired and cannot be ridden. He is looking for a quiet, loving retirement as a companion.
🐴 He is fantastic with mares, geldings, dogs, children and general yard life. His manners really are second to none.
Jack means the absolute world to us. He has been a huge part of our lives, and this is not a decision I have made lightly.
Because of how much he means to us, I am going to be extremely particular about his new home. I don't want him passed around from home to home, and I would much rather wait as long as necessary for the right person than let him go somewhere that isn't suitable.
I am looking for someone who genuinely wants to give Jack a safe, loving and permanent home, and who understands and is happy to manage his individual needs.
If you think you may be able to offer Jack the retirement home he deserves, please message me with some information about yourself, your setup, his potential companion(s), and what life would look like for him.
Jack is up to date with vaccinations, teeth, wormer, hooves.
Jack is PERFECT to shoe, box, dentist you name it! I really can’t say a bad word about him.
I can supply references. You’re also welcome to talk to my vet, fair etc. Jack has been VERY well looked after and I wish for this to continue.
Would ideally like Jack to stay local to Hampshire, but will consider other areas if the home is suitable.
I am willing to contribute financially what I can afford. (to be discussed) to make sure jacks needs are met.
