Dodger is a 14.2hh (+ a little bit) Welsh with huge potential and a big personality. He started work in Aug 2025 has been produced slowly and correctly, allowing him plenty of time to mature and enjoy his work.
On the flat, he has three balanced paces with good movement and a basic understanding of lateral work. He is willing, intelligent and enjoys learning.
Jumping is something Dodger genuinely loves. Due to his age and stage of education, he hasn’t been over-jumped, but he was comfortably schooling around 80–90cm before owner circumstances meant his jumping work took a back seat. He has a good foundation for this to be picked up again.
He hacks confidently in company and has happily cantered through open fields and along tracks. He will hack alone but, being a young horse, appreciates a confident rider to reassure him when he encounters something new. He is never nasty or unsafe—just young and looking for guidance.
Dodger is exceptionally brave with coloured poles, fillers and arena obstacles. He has also completed plenty of groundwork, including flags, flapping plastic, tarpaulins etc. His main area of insecurity is traffic, and he has been making good progress through desensitisation work. This is something that should continue with his new owner.
He has a lovely temperament both in and out of the stable. He’s incredibly social, is kind with both mares and geldings, and can often be found playing or grooming his field companions. He comes to call in the field and genuinely enjoys being brought in to work.
Earlier in the year he attended an introductory dressage competition which he behaved impeccably at. He coped in a busy warm-up and stood nicely tied to the box. He seemed to enjoy getting out and seeing the world.
Finding the right home is extremely important to me. This has been a very difficult decision that I’ve gone back and forth on, but due to changes in my health and circumstances I will soon no longer have the time he deserves.
He is good to clip, bath, shoe and load.
