Gracie, superstar 14.2hh 7yo Trotter X Cob mare. Absolutely beautifully marked with a fun and friendly temperament. I bought Gracie early November last year as a project to produce whilst my competition horse had some downtime from injury. She’s been a pleasure to produce but it’s now time for her to find her next person to have fun with.
On the flat, Gracie works sweetly in a contact in all three paces. She is starting to learn her lateral work too with a nice leg yield coming along. She recently attended her first dressage show picking herself up a 2nd place and 69+% in the Intro as well as a good effort in the 60s in the Prelim. Not spooked by the judge hut/ mirrors and warmed up well around other horses. As a trotter, Gracie’s canter transitions can still be hurried, but she’s made quick progress in the short time I’ve had her. She would be a great candidate for Novice and Ele with more work.
Gracie loves to jump! She’s proved very bold with fillers, water trays etc. She has done multiple arena hires for jumping and been to one showjumping competition. She took it all in well and jumped two sweet rounds for a clear and one pole down around 60cm. She’s jumping courses of 70cm at home and has jumped bigger in a grid and on the lunge. She has potential to be a great 80/90cm pony, perhaps more with time! But I haven’t wanted to rush her as she builds up her strength in canter. She’s also seen a few cross country fences and jumped up and down steps, over logs, ditches and barrels with no problem.
Gracie hacks alone and in company. She has mainly hacked alone around fields and on the beach but goes out in company occasionally to get her used to it. Forward going and easy to pull up. She has done a small amount of roadwork with me and been great with cars, bikes and runners etc. We haven’t done much road work as we have good off road hacking.
She is cheap to keep as a good doer and barefoot. Well behaved to catch, load, travel, trim and for the dentist. I had her sedated to clip when I first got her but I’m sure she’ll be fine with that with more practice. Up to date with vaccinations, worming, physio etc.
Gracie is looking for a confident and competent rider to either enjoy all round PC/RC activities and hacking or someone who wants to specialise in SJ, DR or even Eventing.
Gracie would not be suitable for a novice as she is still fairly green (only having recently been properly schooled with me) and can be bouncy when she’s excited/ overwhelmed. This mainly happens with new experiences (like her first canter on the beach in company, first SJ hire or first gridwork session). The more she does, the better she gets. She is a fast learner and wants to please but will need someone capable to keep her on the right track. I’ve happily had a teen on her multiple times on the flat and jumping. It’s not unseating/ nasty but she would not be the right horse for someone lacking confidence and experience.
