Martin is a crossbreed that I have know since birth and was gifted to me by a friend. His mum is a collie x dalmation and dad is a lurcher. I still see them both regularly.
Martin is approx 6 years old neutered and fit and well. He has a good level of training, excellent recall - will recall off other dogs and distractions, walks nicely on a lead and is very calm and lazy indoors. He loves nothing more that snuggling up in a blanket on the beanbag and will happily stay there all day. He can be left at home alone for 4-6 hours and actually would probably prefer this than to be taken everywhere with someone.
He loves forest walks and loves puddles and all water. He travels well in the car or a Van, no whining or sickness, sleeps most of the time and is very easy in the house.
The reason I am looking for a new home is because I have 5 spaniels and a lab and as he has got a bit older he just wants a simple easy life. The other dogs irritate him and wind him up and he doesn’t enjoy the busy crazy life we lead. He will snap at them if they push him too far (fair) but has never actually hurt another dog. I just don’t think he is overly happy here and could be much happier in a more suitable home.
We do have a cat but Martin is the only dog that doesn’t get along with him. The Lurcher and herding instincts in him take over and he just chases the cat. Out on walks he does sometimes bark at other dogs but will recall away from them and this is easily managed.
Martins ideal home is a quiet place with no children, no cats and maybe one other dog if it’s calm and respectful. An older couple that want to walk him around the block or take him for a quick leg stretch in the forest or someone that has their own land at home that he can just potter around on and find a sunny spot to lay in. Maybe someone who works from home a few days a week and in the office a few days so he gets human company and peace and quiet. He doesn’t need much exercise but does need a good sprint now and again. He wouldn’t enjoy going to coffee shops or pubs, he wants a peaceful quiet life. He is not needy and does not crave attention all the time but he does love a cuddle.
When first meeting new people he can be a bit nervous but he soon comes round especially if you have a treat or two! He is a real foody and will eat anything! He feels the cold and gets wrapped in a blanket at night in the winter and expects this! He curls up in a tiny ball when he is cold.
Martin is very much loved by all of us but I want him to be happier and I know he can be. I will be vetting homes and will have lots of questions for any interested parties. I am asking a small contribution of £250 and I would love to keep in touch to see how he’s getting on.
Please message or call with any questions or if you would like to come and meet him. We are located in Romsey Hampshire.
