Meet Carla, the pony who never got the memo about being a fiery Welsh C mare. In fact, she is so un‑mareish that we’ve checked her passport more than once just to be sure.
We’ve owned Carla for just under two years, and in that time she has proven herself to be the sort of pony you could put your granny on… if granny can hold on during a hunt, because that happens to be Carla’s absolute favourite thing. Hunting, one‑day events, and XC are her spiritual calling. Show jumping? Yes—up to 70cm, and happily. Dressage? She has indeed trotted politely through a PC70 test (and even listened). Mounted Games? Flags, equipment, chaos—Carla shrugged and said, “Is that all?”
⭐ The Honest Bit (in a humorous way)
Carla is currently… let’s say… aerodynamically challenged.
Buoyant.
A pony of substance.
Yes—rotund.
Since the beginning of last summer, she hasn’t done too much (teenager + second pony = one pony inevitably becomes a field decoration). To bring her back into work, she is currently being ridden in a Thornpad, trotting her way back to fitness with great enthusiasm and slightly less great stamina. She did once wear a saddle, but that has now been outgrown—by her, not the rider.

Not spooky – the world could end behind her and she’d keep trotting.
Not strong – your arms will remain their natural length.
Not opinionated – shockingly un‑Welsh in this regard.
Not mareish – also shockingly un‑Welsh.
Very kind – she will, quite literally, try her heart out.
Hacks alone or in company – and is impeccably behaved in open spaces.
Loves XC, hunting, fun rides, pole clinics, general adventuring.

⭐ Why We’re Selling
My daughter is now 13, has outgrown Carla, and we simply don’t have the time (or the number of bottoms) to keep two ponies ridden. Carla is far too good to be wasted in the field perfecting her current spherical silhouette.
