Roddy is a sweet-natured and genuine ex-racehorse who has been privately owned since November 2024. He retired from racing in summer 2024 after three runs and has since enjoyed living out in a small, settled herd. He is easy to handle on the ground: Good to catch Generally straightforward and willing Roddy can be slightly nervous at mounting, but with a patient approach he settles quickly and is absolutely fine once you’re on. He is a happy hacker when in company but currently lacks confidence hacking alone and can be a little nappy. For this reason, he would suit a confident, sympathetic rider who can continue to build his confidence and help him develop. Roddy received SI joint steroid treatment in July 2025, followed by physiotherapy and a period of groundwork. He was signed off as sound to return to ridden work in October 2025 and has been progressing well since. This is a reluctant sale due to owner’s health issues. A kind and knowledgeable home where he can continue his education is essential.
