Lucky is a 15.3hh Thoroughbred mare who is looking for someone to enjoy schooling and hacking with her. She is currently coming back into work, so she is a little green and will benefit from someone patient, confident and consistent while she builds her fitness and confidence back up.

She is not nasty or naughty — she wouldn’t buck, rear or bolt — but she can be a little green and may need reassurance from her rider at times. She is therefore not suitable for novices or anyone under 18.

Ideally looking for someone who:
• Is confident and experienced with Thoroughbreds
• Is happy schooling and hacking,* not wanting to race around.*

Beautiful much loved 16.1 hh 6 year-old grey 1/2 Percheron available for purchase. He has been carefully produced by his breeder with good manners and his longevity in mind. He has hunted, gone on fun rides, shown, been to clinics, spent two summers in the New Forest hacking out alone and in company, competed at unaffiliated dressage and show jumping, and been schooled by a professional dressage rider for 6 weeks for each of the last three years. Counter canter and simple changes established this year. He won his last prelim class at dressage and currently is jumping clear rounds at 60 cm. He schools over higher jumps. He has been cross-country schooling. Enjoys jumping - never stops. He will take you into a fence. Does everything in a snaffle and plain nose band. He has a good mouth and 3 good paces. Lovely to ride not heavy in the hand. Safe to hunt, goes along with the field, and jumps all the jumps.
He prefers to hack out in company as he can spook or nap if he doesn’t like something when on his own. Ideal family horse as he can be hunted by father as he is up to weight, do dressage with mother as he is a lovely, well schooled ride and do pony club and be jumped by a teenager. He is big but compact. Bear in mind riders in photos are all 6’ tall. Doesn’t mind being ridden by different people.

Peanut – Super-Sensible 11.3hh Family Pony

Peanut is a gorgeous blue-and-white, 4-year-old cob gelding standing at approximately 11.3hh. He has been broken to ride and was also lightly driven before coming to us.

He is incredibly sensible for his age and has been handled, cared for and ridden by small children. Peanut absolutely loves children and is exceptionally cuddly and affectionate—he will happily stand for hours enjoying attention and would quickly become any child’s best friend.

Nothing seems to faze him. He remains completely relaxed around heavy traffic and doesn’t react even when plastic bags are waved around his head. He is still green in the school due to his age, but is an easy, straightforward pony to hack.

Peanut is excellent to catch, load and have his feet done, and is safe and easy to handle on the ground. He is passported, wormed and up to date with the farrier.

He would make a lovely family friend or showing prospect for someone who can continue his education and help him reach his full potential. A knowledgeable, loving home is essential, as this special little pony deserves the very best.

2-3 days a week - MUST be a confident, competent rider, please do not be dishonest regarding your experience, these are not suitable horses for people coming back after a bad experience.

1st horse - Tilly, chestnut mare, 16/16.1hh 5 years old. Tilly is suitable for a confident novice to an extent but she is a baby, she would take anyone from complete beginner to seasoned rider on a road hack, on the forest she can be wary of ditches and gauze and as such for this she then needs a confident experienced rider to push her on. Schooling she is great but can be nappy/lazy if not consistently schooling. She has never bucked, bolted or reared even when pushed however she can be strong if leading in canter.

2nd horse - Echo, rose grey gelding, 16.2hh, 4 years old. Echo needs a more experienced confident rider, again he has never bucked, bolted or reared but he can be nappy and his napping can mean spinning to go the other way, he is also completely new to hacking and schooling having only come off the race track in April this year so he is still learning everything and learning to slow down. He has paces to die for when riding, he has the most floaty trot and his canter is like riding a marshmallow. He can feel strong and he does still need to learn that he doesn’t have to go fast everywhere but equally he’s a chilled out relatively easy ride in all senses.

Both horses are good for the farrier, good to groom and pickup feet. They have their individual quirks which will explain to any potential rider but for ex racing thoroughbreds they are some of the most level headed trainable horses I’ve ever met. Both are willing, safe & honest but green.

Due to disability I desperately need help keeping them going. They are based in Sway with fantastic facilities and forest hacking. No joy riders who are looking to just fly around the forest.

Bandit is a fun, friendly hairy cob who loves hacking, alone or in company, and is good in all traffic and unfazed by all the sights and sounds of the new forest. He has also been used for lessons, he enjoys low level jumping and schooling and follows you around like a friendly labrador!

Bandit has had 6 months off due to a collateral ligament injury to his hock in May 2025. He has been correctly and successfully rehabilitated under veterinary guidance and brought back into work slowly and has now been back to full work for 3 months. He is happiest when he has something to do and particularly loves hacking.

He has been on loan as a share between my friend and her 12 year old daughter for the last 2 years but lack of time forces sale, previously he was our daughter’s pony joining us for picnics, pub trips and has been professionally schooled.

Most suitable for a confident child, a teenager or a small adult. He is good for the farrier, vet, travel etc. Currently bare foot but was shod behind during his rehab. 

Lives out, though happy to be stabled if needed at times. Currently he is living happily with another mare and previously with geldings with no issues other than he is quite greedy! He has however been seen to mount an in-season mare who was particularly encouraging. If you’re looking for a friend to join your family to really enjoy your riding, you may have found her.

She is a full up solid 14.2, happily carries an adult yet is well behaved for children too.

She really does ‘have the T shirt’ have been in her current family home for the last 3 years. She has introduced a novice teenager to hunting, low level shows including showing, showjumping etc

She was driven in her home before by her elderly farmer owner who rode and drive her. We have driven her since (well someone else did) and she absolutely knows what she is doing. She is very easy to drive and would very easily return to this job too.

Whilst she’s not a sporty athletic cob, she does enjoy being ridden and always has a smile on her face and happy ears! She jumps small courses, but if you’re looking to jump more than 60cm and race against the clock she’s probably not for you.

She is reasonably forward going, but still steady if that makes sense?! She doesn’t rush off but she has active paces whilst always being comfortable. You can do sitting trot and enjoy cantering without her pulling, bunking you around or generally needing too much ‘riding’

She is happy to go in an arena and works politely in all three paces BUT please remember she has been the horse that has taught people and given them confidence, so she’s no dressage diva! She would do an accurate prelim test if that was your thing, but if you want to be on Team GB by Christmas, again, she’s probably not your match.

She’s ace on beach rides and fun rides, patiently waits if you need to scoop up kids, canters in front of behind, or walks, very nicely if you’ve had enough, have a stitch and quite frankly just want to see the lorry park again.

She’s got character, loves her hoomans and really is a type of special friend that is very difficult to find.

She’s good with all the usual things traffic, farrier, travelling etc etc

She’s up to date with vaccinations, worming, shoeing, and is open to vet.

Rosie has low mileage as her job has been a companion for most of her life (fine with being left on her own). We relocated to the new forest this summer and she has spent it hacking, schooling, popping jumps and offering pony rides to family and friends. Offered for full loan to a competition home, owing to pregnancy. Ideally to stay at current yard (near Wareham), however, this may be negotiable to the perfect home.

7yo sports horse gelding, approximately 16hands (although he is incredibly deep and seems larger). Pongo has been started slowly and has not been rushed in anyway, owing to his continued growing and me having a baby. However, this has given him time to mature mentally and physically and fill out correctly. Backed by myself (whilst pregnant), he has been very uncomplicated throughout. I have been able to pick him up and put him down without any issues, and he genuinely just wants to please.

This horse is bred to event, his dam is 3/4 sibling to Opposition Buzz and his sire did some grassroots eventing before concentrating on dressage. Pongo only started jumping last year but is proving to be quite brave and straightforward. He has been out to arena sj and arena XC hire where he surprised me with how genuinely unfazed he was - jumping fillers, water trays etc. first time. Has seen XC fences and I truly believe he has the ability to be a future event horse.

Hacks alone, or in company, he is used to farm machinery/quarry trucks/cows etc. Pongo has three good paces and a naturally good rhythm, he would equally make a pure dressage horse. He is always snaffle mouthed - he’s slightly more whoa than go - and requires no ‘gadgets’. As easy as he has been, he will not be loaned to a novice as he is still young and developing.

He has been out to one dressage competition, where he won his first class and was second in his second class, with some lovely comments from both judges. He was completely relaxed about the whole event - first time seeing white boards and he didn’t even get the opportunity to warm up as we were late!

Last weekend he attended Dorset County Show to do a couple of showing classes, which I would not have taken any other inexperienced horse to (especially whilst pregnant!). He behaved really well, just going slightly green at times, gaining a 2nd and 6th in the Sports Horse Classes, and a 4th in the riding club class.

Asides from his ridden ability, this boy is a very sweet and friendly person. He comes to call in the field, and is fantastic to handle - I juggle him alongside the dog and baby in pram! He is good with the farrier, good to clip and to travel (never travelled in a trailer). Pongo is currently living out at night, although will require stabling during the winter - he can be stressed if left in on his own.

This is an incredibly heartbreaking decision, and something that I have been putting off for a while. However, a horse like this needs to be out competing and that I something that I’m not in the position to do right now.
