He really is a lovely, genuine horse with a fantastic temperament. He’s good in traffic, not spooky, and is happy to hack both alone or in company. He is always ridden in a snaffle mouth and is a pleasure to have around. Happy for him to attend local activities and go out with the right person, there is Local schools available within hacking distance.

We are looking for someone to help ride (would consider full loan) our 15hh appy gelding. He’s very green due to a traumatic young life so an experienced, confident but very gentle and understanding rider wanted please. We are based near the new forest and have riding at the yard and a school (happy for him to be moved for full loan).

He has sight loss in one eye and zero confidence in himself, but he is loving and kind and willing but struggles to understand the world around him. He is only gently ridden with a bareback pad at the moment and needs bringing on.

He will make the perfect project for someone who knows what they are doing and you will have full support from us.

We would love someone who ideally knows how to bring on western horses but gentle English riding is totally fine too.

Due to my illness, I am looking for someone to ride out with me once may be twice a week. I have two New Forest mares who are ridden by friends once a week, sometimes twice a week however, I would like to do more with them

They live in a private yard in the Balmer Lawn area of Brockenhurst. We have direct forest access with outstanding hacking. Unfortunately, we don’t have a school.

I’m a mature rider (60’s), who basically walks, trots and does accidental canters and jumps.

Both my ponies are forward going and you do need to know how to ride. Half halts are useful. They are both ridden in snaffles. Both have been successfully shown and one has done dressage and xcountry.

They are not suitable for children because this is a private yard. Ideally, you would be around my age range and not weigh more than 10stone. You would also need Rider Insurance.

I would like either a financial contribution to their shoes or help with their care.

Caramel (Mel for short) is a 20-year-young, 13.1hh Cob pony mare who has been very special to us. Based in West Tisted near Ropley, with excellent hacking right on our doorstep.

She hacks alone, but happier in company, canters sensibly in groups and not silly in open spaces. Although very well-schooled, she’s not so keen on schooling so would suit someone wanting to be out in the countryside; hacking, cross country jumps in the woods and fun rides. We enjoy walking together around the woods, walking the dog, whilst my daughter rides. She has also previously hunted so has been there, done that.

She isn’t easily spooked and not fazed by tractors, combine harvesters, and motorbikes. My daughter rides out with friends, and I can relax without worry, as she is safe and trustworthy.

She lives on a lovely DIY yard in a mixed mare and gelding herd all the year round. She wears front shoes as some hacking routes and fields are stony. She is good to clip, shoe and load. Fully vaccinated but does need sedating for annual dentistry check-up and treatment.

She is your stereotypical mare especially if she is in season. She can require some persuasion and requires a firm hand at times as she knows all the tricks in the book if she does not want to do something or leave her friends! She will occasionally pop a little buck when she doesn’t get her own way, however nothing malicious or dangerous. Having said that my then 14-year-old and now 16-year-old daughter knows how to handle her.

Up to date with vaccinations, dentist and has an annual vet check-up too. We limit her grazing during laminitis season for prevention purposes.

She isn’t the pony for a young child or pony club and would best suit a lightweight, experienced teen/adult who is happy hacking out, and not fazed by marish behaviour or an experienced Mum/ daughter share.

Own rider insurance and BHS contract required. Weight limit max 9 ½ stone.

Our 16-year-old daughter is growing up and choosing to spend her time doing other activities that we are considering finding our much-loved pony her perfect new rider. She is to stay at her current yard for part loan/LWVTB. Open to discussion about days and financial contribution, but routine and reliability is essential. Minimal yard duties. A car is required to get to the yard.

Looking for competent, confident, and experienced adult riders to part loan our horses 2-3 days a week. Someone who is calm, kind yet firm and also reliable who will enjoy spending time with the horse and become part of their routine with the day to day care on your days (not just ride and go).

Prince is a 16’2 Shire x Cob gelding 9 years old. Very well mannered, great ground work skills, he schools well but much prefers to hack out and see the world. He is 100% safe in traffic and has never had an issue hacking out in the summer with the crab files.

Hacks out happily both alone and in company. He is forward going and works in all three paces independently, (not looking for someone to race him around, he’s been trained as a manual, not an automatic and i’d like him to stay this way please). He enjoys the presence of people and loves to be groomed. Financial contribution required.


18hh Shire gelding

Bramble is 7 years old. Would again require a competent, confident and experienced rider because he is still learning. We brought him back into work in May and has approached everything we have asked of him with a sensible and willing attitude.

Well mannered, with a laid back personality; very affectionate and loves to be groomed and fussed. He hacks out alone and in company with a forward stride (not a kick along) and is safe in traffic. This horse is not the build to be raced around! Financial contribution required.


12.2hh Mini Cob mare

Magic would be available only to a friend of either loaner on an adhoc basis on your days during the cooler months of the year for gentle hacking. She is totally safe in traffic and loves to hack out with the big boys! (9.5 stone weight limit). Small financial contribution when used.


We are based in Minstead; a lovely sole use peaceful field (no yard politics to contend with). There are stables and a feed room. Great opportunities for hacking in the New Forest with just a little road work.

Beautiful cob mare, 13yrs old, 13.2hh available up to 2/4 times a week, no need to come every day as we do daily checks, lives out 24/7 loves a fuss and to be groomed. Very sensible to ride. A great opportunity for someone experienced to teach thier child to ride. Indoor school available with poles and jumps, 500 acre off rd hacking and help when needed. Only advertised as a lead rein pony as can be stubborn off the lead rein but will happily walk, trot and canter and pop a jump. Would be a great therapy pony!

I am on the look out for a reliable, confident rider (18+) to help bring my lovely mare, Bonnie, back into work two (ish) days a week.

Bonnie is 21 year old French Trotter but don’t let that put you off, she genuinely loves her work —especially hacking! She's had a break from ridden work since Christmas but I recently hopped back on her after and she was as good as gold. However, she is a typical "quirky mare" who takes confidence from her rider, so she is not suitable for novices.
She is 15.2 (give or take)
Her max weight is 12 stone.

Due to my own health issues, (which is why she has had to have time off too!) I am struggling to keep the consistency that she needs coming back into work.

The Plan:
Start small with 15–20 minutes of walking/trotting in the school/short road hacks & build up to longer hacks then get her out on the Forest again.

She is 21 & has the usual ailments of a horse who has lived well & likes to pretend she is an acrobat when out in her field (thankfully she does save these antics for when in the field and not when ridden though) & she has had 9 months off so this is very much a "see what she is happy to do" scenario.

I just ask for help with daily chores (poo picking, hay, and feed) & to have your own rider insurance. *

This is a great opportunity for an experienced rider looking to get back into the saddle or someone who just wants to "tinker about" and enjoy a lovely horse.

Rocco is a lovely, genuine young horse who is looking for a sharer at his current yard in Christchurch.

He is a really enjoyable horse to ride and loves getting out and about. He hacks both alone and in company, can go in front or behind, and is good with traffic. He has seen lorries, buses, tractors, motorbikes and plenty more and generally takes everything in his stride.

He has done beach rides, cross-country schooling, hacking and flatwork. He is only 5 but has already experienced lots for his age.

Rocco is naturally forward when asked but does not need constantly kicking or pushing. He could suit a novice rider as long as they are confident, kind and gentle-handed.

As he is still young, I am looking for someone who is consistent and will not allow him to get away with things. He is not dangerous or silly, but he does need someone who is going to give him clear boundaries and be consistent with him.

He is lovely to handle on the ground and has a really nice nature. He enjoys attention and spending time with people and is the sort of horse you can build a really good relationship with.

Lucky is a 15.3hh Thoroughbred mare who is looking for someone to enjoy schooling and hacking with her. She is currently coming back into work, so she is a little green and will benefit from someone patient, confident and consistent while she builds her fitness and confidence back up.

She is not nasty or naughty — she wouldn’t buck, rear or bolt — but she can be a little green and may need reassurance from her rider at times. She is therefore not suitable for novices or anyone under 18.

Fantastic forward going hack in company, struggles alone and will nap and occasionally turn to go the other way.
He is somewhat spooky but not silly, he simply looks and gives a wide berth. He prefers to follow others on a hack but occasionally will lead.
3 very balanced paces for his age and past but has only schooled twice! I have only had him a very short time and we have focused on hacking. I am not expecting someone to school him for me but I do expect him to be schooled occasionally alongside me also schooling him.
Echo will lead sensibly in canter and he is not silly in open spaces atall.
He has never bucked, bolted or reared.

He is good to catch, groom, pick out feet, for the farrier and doesn’t kick or bite.

Overall Echo is an easy straight forward ride in company, he is a dream to handle on the ground and has lovely manners. However being young I cannot stress enough that if you are not confident then this is not the horse for you, he takes his confidence from his rider, he is not suitable if you are coming back from a long break or a bad experience! You need to be firm but understanding with him.

Echo has some serious potential, he is going to be a machine in a years time with the right work.

15.1hh at his wither but a chunky lad so looks closer to 16hh.
He has previously evented up to BE90 for fun, but he now has very mild arthritis and asthma, so I’ve personally taken a step back with him while focusing more on my other horse. He’s up for doing most things still with the right jockey.

He is not a novice ride. He can be strong out hacking and is occasionally spooky, so he needs a confident and capable rider who he can take reassurance from. For the right person, though, he is a really lovely horse to spend time with — and he’ll happily stand around all day for a fuss, especially if food is involved!

Introducing Mr. Smarty Pants! Smarty is a 11.2, 20 year old Dartmoor and he can turn his hoof to anything. He has taken my daughter from nervous nelly to confident, independent rider. However the time has come to accept that she really is getting too big for him. Smarty is kept at our home in the forest and will not be available to move. We have direct forest access and an arena available. He has everything he needs except from a new best friend.
What to know about Smarty. He is the epitome of cheeky pony. He knows all the tricks in the book to test a child, however when they get it he will always deliver. He is completely unflappable out hacking, he has been to the beach and taken it in his stride, he has attended Ellingham show and jump clinics and he is completely unfazed by it all. He can be a grumpy old man at times (he tends to reserve this for the adults) he really likes his children and doesn’t like anyone else interfering. A knowledgeable adult is preferred as you really will get the best out of him for your child if you can remain unbothered by his mood swings. He is never nasty or dangerous but he has bags of character and until you prove to him you are someone worth knowing he will remain deeply unimpressed by you. Smarty has so much to offer the right child and is far from ready to hang up his bridle. He knows his job, loves his work and produces a lovely confident and well balanced rider.

14.1hh 7yo NF gelding. Very friendly, my 12 year old daughter handles, grooms, tacks up and rides him by herself.
Mostly for hacking, or the odd lesson potentially. Would ideally suit someone looking for a couple of weekdays riding but with flexibility as my daughter rides at weekends and in the school holidays often going to Pony club with him. Could be perfect for somebody that perhaps has their own children, so can only ride in school time or someone that doesn't mind potentially doing different or less days around school holidays time.

Hi, I’m looking for a kind experienced rider for my daughter’s 15.2hh 6 year old cob. He is a kind soul but cheeky. Not malicious in anyway but due to age requires an experienced rider to bring on and show him the way. Max weight 12stone.  Financial contribution required as is personal riders insurance. Lives out so poo picking only will be required, max 4 days a week. Hacking on doorstep and grass school on site. To stay at current yard in Winchester.

He’s a 16.3 Irish sport horse, who has competed up to BE Novice many years ago, he hasn’t competed in a while.

He is very talented and excels in any discipline. He is not suitable for a ‘happy hacker’ or ‘novice rider’, he needs a calm and confident rider that can support him and give him confidence.

When it comes to hacking he can’t be hacked out alone and is better in a group but, you would need to be prepared not to be able to hack him at all, until you have built up an understanding with him.

I’m looking for someone who is able to help me and his other sharer look after him, as due to personal circumstances I am going to be unable to ride for a year.

Sadie is a 15 year old mare who we have owned for the past 6 years. She has done a bit of everything – XC, showjumping, hunter trials, fun rides, beach rides etc. I am currently at university and I’m looking for either a part share or full loan for her from our yard based in Fordingbridge, fairly flexible. We have a 60x20 arena for use with jumps, forest hacking accessible via some road riding, and the opportunity to take her for outings in the future.

Sadie is extremely easy to do on the ground, a real yard favourite and not mareish. Good with the farrier, teeth, vet etc. Loads into our single trailer well using a Dooley head collar, just requires a bit of time to think about it. Happy to hack alone, and even happier in company. Good with most traffic but when hacking alone she does take confidence from her rider with larger lorries and tractors although I’ve never had any issues. For this reason, she is not suitable for a novice.

She loves group rides/fun rides/clinics, I’ve had loads of fun on her out cross country where she will put in the occasional buck when she’s excited, typical opinionated Connie, but nothing dangerous or malicious. She finds the school a bit boring so can be lazy depending on the season, with the right rider she can produce some nice flatwork but requires a bit of effort. Will perk up with a couple of poles, jumps or company. I have shared her with my mum for the past 6 years and she is the sort of mare that would suit a variety of riders - safely plods along on the buckle for a gentle hack but steps it up a level in other areas.

Kept at home with two others. Hacks alone/in company, no vices/health issues. Currently barefoot in hoof boots for hacking. Fabulous hacking on doorstep. Brilliant with traffic/tractors/pigs etc.
No school at home but one to hire within 10 minute hack. Still young so no novices please, can occasionally nap if out on own, but nothing bit of leg doesn't sort.
Over 21's only please with own transport and riders insurance. Only costs involved are for farrier, but share of stable duties/poo picking etc expected. Also be happy to help out with holiday cover.

I am looking for someone who would enjoy helping me care for my 3 year old 13.1hh New Forest gelding. He is very friendly. He can be cheeky but he is generally polite and does not barge or pull away. He is good to brush, pick up feet etc. Unfortunately my health hasn't been great and I could do with a little help.

Maybe you no longer have a horse or wish to ride but miss horses and would like equine contact on a regular but not necessarily rigid set days basis. I am looking for someone who is reliable, kind and patient and who has a little time a few days a week. I think probably a more mature person, over 18. Experience with horses is essential but not necessarily with youngsters. No financials.

My pony lives on a lovely yard in Sway. He is stabled at night and turned out during the day in order to manage his waistline.
