NFED Help & Frequently Asked Questions

Why hasn't my been advert approved?

All new ads have to be approved by the administrator, yes a real person before they are posted on the site, this is normally done within 24 hours, but may take longer at busy times.

By submitting an advert you are accepting the Rules & Guidelines. Please don’t complain to the administrator if the rules & guidelines are ignored & the advert is rejected.

If your advert is subject to payment it will not be approved until payment has been received.

Advertiser Details
The advertiser’s name, town & postcode must be supplied.
Your name will be hidden from public view by default, but you can choose to show it you prefer. The post code is hidden in your advert, only the town & county will be displayed to the public. If any of these details are missed or not entered correctly, the advert will be rejected.

Safety Issues
Adverts putting under 16-year old’s at risk will not be approved. If you indicate that you are under 16 in your advert, your name or phone number must remain hidden (default setting). Showing your personal details or including them in your advert text will cause your advert to be rejected for safety reasons.

Item Descriptions
You must describe the animal or items as accurately as possible. Adverts without an adequate description are not approved, i.e. “various items or ponies, call for details, other items available or similar” will be rejected.

Asking Prices
If no price is shown, POA, offers, rehoming, swap or similar is displayed, the value will be assumed to be over £175 and the advert will not be approved until payment has been received. The administrator may use discretion if an item is very obviously under £175, but please don’t assume that this will happen or expect us to research values.

Note that this does not apply to equines, as all horse or pony offered adverts are subject to payment regardless of value.

Wanted Ads
The majority of other classifieds sites either do not allow or charge for wanted ads for a good reason. For each successful wanted ad, a paid offered advert is lost. We really do want to be able to offer a good service which includes free wanted adverts, so the wanted ads are monitored carefully for abuse.
Wanted ads will not be accepted in the offered category if a wanted category is provided.
The same or similar advert must not have been posted within the last two months.
Wording a riding offered advert as “person wanted to ride a horse” does not class it as a wanted advert, it is a Riding Offered ad.
Horse or companion wanted to rent a field, is grazing offered. Help wanted in return for riding, grazing or livery is a riding or grazing offered ad. Home wanted for a horse, is a horse offered. In all cases these ads must go in the offered categories & are subject to the normal payment rules or they will be rejected.
Dealers looking for horses to sell, are business ads so will not approved without a current Services Directory listing. Adverts offering to help rehome horses are advertising a service so will not be approved.

Swaps
Swap DO NOT qualify as free ads. i.e Lorry wanted in exchange for trailer will be classed as Trailer Offered, GP saddle in exchange for a dressage saddle will be a saddle offered advert & therefore must go in the correct offered category. Swaps will only be accepted in the Wanted category if a matching offered advert has been approved.

Repeat Ads & Fair Usage
The limits are in place to prevent the classifieds being bombarded with ads from the same advertiser & to stop ads being constantly bumped back to the top, both of which will push all the other ads down the list. This is unfair to other advertisers & viewers do not want to see the same ads over & over again.

Repeat ads or ads exceeding the fair usage policy DO NOT qualify as free ads so will not be approved without payment. To qualify for a free advert:

  • The same items or similar advert must not have been posted within the last two months.
  • The advertiser must not have posted more than 15 free adverts in the previous 30 days.
  • The advertiser must not have more than 30 free adverts online at any time.

It is the advertiser’s responsibility to keep track of their adverts, but records of all adverts are kept & the administrator is informed by Email each time an advert is submitted, modified or removed. To find your ads, try searching for your Email address.
Please remove adverts that are no longer required, failing to do so or having duplicated ads may cause your advert to be rejected. Click Here for more.

Availability
All animals or items must be available to NFED users & not entered in auctions elsewhere. NFED users rightly expect the item to be available & to be able to make enquiries or offers through the NFED without being redirected to a different website for further information or to bid. Including links or sending viewers to items advertised on other websites is not permitted.

Cheating the System & Abuse
We really do want to allow free ads for genuine, honest advertisers but the system is open to abuse, so does relies on the honesty of our advertisers to make it work properly & fair for everyone.
Anyone found to be deliberately cheating the system, using multiple identities to get around usage limits, acting, advertising or trading dishonestly, regularly ignoring guidelines, being abusive or causing problems in any way whatsoever will no longer be eligible for free adverts. Click Here for more.

Trade or Business Ads
Trade adverts including wanted or for goods sold as a trade, business or manufactured to order are not eligible as free ads unless the advertiser has a current Standard Listing in the services directory, in which case all the normal criteria for free ads will apply.

Hay, Haylage & Straw Sales
We understand that many people make their own hay or haylage & wish to sale the surplus. If this is genuinely the case, the advert may be classed as a private sale & approved without payment at the administrator’s discretion.

Hay, Haylage & Straw being regularly advertised on the NFED or elsewhere, offering delivery or different choices will be classed as trade. Trade adverts will only be approved without payment if the advertiser has a current Standard Directory listing in the Hay Straw & Bedding category.

Services
We do not allow services to be advertised in the Classifieds. Adverts offering any type of service must go in the Services Directory which is designed especially for this purpose. An exception may be made for those with a current Services Directory listing, but this is entirely at the discretion of the administrator and will depend on the type of service offered. Please Click Here to see how to use the NFED to advertise your services.

Questions & Advice
The classifieds are for buying and selling adverts only, general questions, advice or recommendations wanted will not be accepted. If you are looking for any kind of service, please look in the Services Directory section.

Employment
Employment wanted adverts will not be approved. The employment offered section is aimed at employers with vacancies.

Classifieds Categories
Some categories are more flexible than others, but in general adverts posted in the wrong category will not be approved. For example, horse wanted on loan ad will not be approved in the "Loans Offered" or "Share, Part Loan & Riding Offered" categories. There are categories for both "Horses Wanted" & "Loan, Share or Riding Wanted".

Loan, Share or Riding Wanted
This category is intended for individuals genuinely looking for a horse to ride. Any adverts advertising riding for payment, instruction, breaking, exercising, showing, etc, are offering a professional service and should therefore be placed in the NFED Business Directory. Please Click Here

Companion Riders
This category is provided to help those looking for a riding partner: i.e someone with their own horse to ride out with. If you are looking for somebody to ride your horse, it must go in the Share, Part Loan & Riding Offered category.

Anyone suspected of deliberately abusing or attempting to cheat the system, acting, advertising or trading dishonestly, regularly ignoring guidelines, causing problems, spamming, canvassing advertisers, being abusive to other NFED users or generally disparaging the site in any way whatsoever will no longer be eligible for free adverts & may have all adverts rejected.

If you have submitted payment, but your advert is rejected for any reason, your payment will refunded and you will be notified by Email.

Adverts submitted from advertisers either under investigation or having unresolved complaints against them will not be accepted. The administrator’s decision is final & we reserve the right to refuse adverts without explanation as this may affect any ongoing police or trading standards investigation.
