Description
14.3hh, 10 year old. Hackney mare.
This is a very very hard decision so please NO time wasters.
Jo has been there and done but is no longer up for competition. She is brilliant to do everything with (apart from compete), she hacks down the busiest A30 road and doesn't bat an eyelid at any traffic. She is bombproof. She doesn't spook even on the windiest of days. She will load herself, clip without a head collar on, fantastic stable manners and a very affectionate mare. Great to shoe, catch and bath. Lives in her or out but does like her stable at night in the winter. Isn't your average plod happy hacker as she is forward but safe. She so lovely to hunt, she goes first or last, stands lovely at the meet. She's great with dogs, kids, goats, alpacas, sheep. Generally isn't worried about anything. Will live with mares or geldings. Doesn't really like being left completely on her own in the field but is happy in the stable. Jo went blind in her right eye last June due to recurrent uveitis and this has effected her jumping (this is controlled by a iv flymask). She has no problems now, my vet just advised to keep a uv flymask on her on sunny bright days. This has made her become incredibly anxious about jumping which causes her to be very strong competing. She school ok but at a competition anxiety takes over and I don't believe a calmer will over come this. Because of this, she rushes and gets incredibly strong with it. I feel that I am trying to make her the sports horse she isn't.
I am advertising her as a hack/hunt/broodmare. I don't want her going to a competition home as it isn't fair on her.
This mare is truly a very special horse and this is her only downfall. Homes will be vetted.
No under 18's and absolutely no novices as she is forward going. She will come with saddle, bridle and a few rugs if needed.
